From the recording Instrumental Hymns

Certainly a "standard" by any measure, this Christian hymn is based on the Swedish "O Store Gud," written in 1885 by Carl Boberg. Of course, the hymn's immense popularity had much to do with the fact that George Beverly Shea made it one of his most-often-sung hymns during the Billy Graham crusades. In my arrangement, the hymn's main theme is introduced by a lone bagpipe, accompanied by the plaintive voice of a lone Didgeridoo. As the piece progresses, choir voices, strings, and the piano pick up the melody and carry it forward, along with the help of various brass instruments, a pipe organ, tubular bells, and a percussion section.
