According to John Denver, an avowed conservationist, he wrote this song in honor of Mardy and Olaus Murie, a couple who he said had a great love of Alaska and the conservation of our planet and all wildlife. According to Denver, Mardy and her husband loved to dance the waltz, and so he wrote this song with that specifically in mind. In my arrangement, the melody is carried forward in celeste-like fashion, while a synthesizer and gentle percussion instruments play in the background.
