I don't usually step over to the country side of things for my covers, but this Garth Brooks hit was just too good to pass up. Written and composed by Tony Arata, "The Dance" is considered by many to be Brooks' signature song, along with maybe his "Friends in Low Places." My arrangement opens with a gently plucked string which, in turn, hands the melody off to a piano with guitar accompaniment. As the song progresses, a plaintive, solo violin is introduced, along with assorted choir voices, a bass, and various gently played percussion instruments.
